Joyeux Anniversaire Marguerite

In honor of our little Marguerite, I wanted to transmit a great American tradition: the cupcake. I found a store in Paris that sells cupcakes, like Magnolia Bakery or Billy's Bakery in New York. The shop is in le Marais, a trendy neighborhood in Paris, and I think the owners hope that it will spark the same sort of phenomenon as those bakeries in New York. Their task is a bit more difficult, considering that the patisseries surrounding this shop are full of very refined cakes and tarts. So, the Frenchies bit into their cupcakes and the one thing that did not translate well was the frosting. Tarts and delicacies in France are decidedly less saccharin than American cakes...especially cupcakes. Marie said that this was clearly a kid's treat.

Happy Birthday little one! What a fun party. Looks like everyone had a great time, minus the cupcake icing. They may not have been a taste sensation, but they look adorable and perfect for a three year old birthday party. Good job Mimi!

Happy Birthday Marguerite! I hope you at least enjoyed the cupcakes even if they weren't as appreciated by the adults. You are starting to look so old and grown-up. It will be great to see you soon.

People love the cupcakes! Just a bit unusual here...

Thank you all for your kind words for Marguerite, which we will pass on for sure. She is very proud to be 3 and can not wait to go the US this summer!

Rosie, did you check Marguerite's pictures in the previous post? Marguerite wore your dress+tights and looked so cute all day! A little princess.

Emilie,

Hang onto your love for cupcake icing. Marguerite needs to be exposed to some of the little things that have made you what you are! That way, you will become part of her, too!

Love, Chrys
