Valensole Lavender Fields

The other evening we drove not an hour away to the lavender fields of the Valensole Plateau. They were completely ripe. We roved these rows feeling wonder, all senses rapt. The whir of bees buzzing set the tone, intoxicating air. Romy even got a sting we were so far in the lavender.

Lavender Fields.

The symbol of this region of France - lavender. We walked down the street from the little village where we were staying - Lardiers - and found fields of lavender flanking every side. We entered the rows of lavender on one end and all ran toward the middle. Romy stood there, wide-eyed, looking around - head cocked just a bit listening to the hum of the bees and scrunching up her nose, sniffing the air. Totally in wonder.

Colette went a little bit nuts, which was understandable - the experience was all-sensory - a lot to take in.
