Parc de la Villette
Parc de la Villette is a big park/concert space/science museum-of-sorts in the 19th arrondissement. It is fantastical. Apparently, it was designed by architect, Bernard Tschumi, with the help of Monsieur Jacques Derrida, the well-loved deconstructionist, if you can believe it. Architecture + literary theory = a new urban built-space iteration. Hence, it is no wonder that wonders abound here. All over the park are unconventional structures and shapes and built things, called "folies." The red structure featured above is one example. The crazy slide is another. The park itself is built right on the Canal de l'Ourcq and the site formerly housed a national meat market and slaughterhouse. Wow. The wonders of urban renewal.

Some of this park reminds me of the sculpture garden at the Walker Art Center in Minneapolis.
Pretty crazy and interesting!
