Stephen feeding tiny birds right out of his hands.
A silver field.
Beach driftwood standing upright.
Making a real attempt to ape up the driftwood.
Xavier's portrait of Napoleon in the sand.
New York...we'll be back really soon. We found an apartment in the 70s right by the park...big terrace for planting tomatoes and sunlolling.

Oh Emilie, I am so glad that you had such a wonderful time, that you shared it with us, and that you found a place to land when you return!
Good news! Can't wait to visit! I hope Xavier remembered the mother-father in-law rooms attached. See you in 2 1/2 weeks - can't wait!
ok, it isn't Bedda that wants the mother-father in law rooms! Just to clarify that last comment was from Mom. OOXO
oh, look at the chickadee!! adorable. funny - i'm going with a birding group to morton's preserve on LI next weekend to experience the same. chickadees, titmice, downy woodpeckers will all eat out of hand.
congratulations on your apartment! did you choose the location because of the proximity to the french embassy? :) whitney museum, central park, daniel boulud's little shack of a restaurant (ha!)....nice spot!!!
i'm headed to chinatown this weekend for unique stocking stuffers. i'll resist the temptation to come back on the train with a baby turtle.

Sorry not to share in the general delight over your departure! I'm thinking of stealing and hiding your passport to prevent it happening.... emma xxx
I was in Manhattan last Saturday and I kept thinking as I took the Subway from Lincoln Center to 34th Street and then rode the ancient wooden escalators up to the 8th floor at Macy's "What would Emilie and Xavier have done here today!"
I also wondered where the elevated park was!
I don't know if you ever knew it, Emilie, but Bryan also feeds birds and squirrels right out of his hands. No wonder he and Stephen were good friends.
