Siracusa, Sicilia
Our final stop was Siricusa. Xavier and I agreed it was the most beautiful city we saw in Sicily or in Southern Italy. The most charming part of the city itself is on a small island (Ortygia) off the island of Sicily and like everywhere else we visited has a very long history. The city's origins date back to the 13th century BC! We liked the city so much because it was full of tiny rows of streets like tall hallways with plants dripping down under all the windows and the surfaces of buildings crumbling away.
There was a constant buzzing sound all over Italy: Vespas. I've never seen so many.
Walking through the winding streets, we passed this marionette-maker with two young guys inside working away.
Then we came to an opening and a large piazza with grand buildings and the most amazing sculpture coming out of the ground.
Little details:
That color. I love it.
Those bags of balls. Love them.
